New York

BlogHer 2010

At last, my BH10 post. Only took a week after the conference, but like fine wine, my brain needed time to ferment. Or maybe my brain needed wine. Whatev. Anyway, here it is.

The conference itself was amazing – and even though I was there to talk about grief, I packed a lot of living into the 7 days that I was there. Cecily recapped it best, and she has an awesome pic of the panel I was on with Peter, Annisa and Loralee. And I must add that I love how my hair got WINGS that day. Freaking humidity.

What can I say about BlogHer that hasn’t already been said ? I got to meet some of my favorite people in the world who have until now only lived in my computer, I got to hang out and reconnect with so many people I have met before and strengthened our bonds, and I think I can safely say that I’ve made some new lifelong friends. I also finally got to meet and hug the most beautiful little girl since me, and her Mom and Grandmother, who are equally and even more so made.of.awesome !

Yes, there was swag. Yes, there were sponsors and suites and stuff. But most importantly, there were people. People to hug and squeeze and sit on the curb with while eating street meat, to dance with, to put paper bags on our heads and dance ourselves silly with. They didn’t care how you dressed, who you wrote for or how big of a deal you thought you were on the internet, they were with you for you. And to me, that is what BlogHer is all about.

And this …..

Words

There are not enough of them to describe my week in NYC.

Exhilarating.

Exhausting.

There’s two.

Those will have to do for now. More to come.

Right now I’m awash in laundry, puppy slobber and the restocking, re-mowing and re-me-ing that goes into being away from home for over a week.

Along with over 1000 photos.

Including many just as dorkalicious as this one ….

Be back soon, with more words than you may want to read. : )

Why I deserve to be an Energizer Smart ChargHER

Energizer has generously partnered with An Island Life and Barefoot Mommies to sponsor two bloggers to go to BlogHer 2010 in NYC. They are giving each blogger $2000 and lots of goodies to giveaway to tell people about the amazing new Energizer Recharge Smart Charger.

YAY ENERGIZER!!

Here is the little gem and some facts about how it works….

  • Battery Fuel Guage shows charge status
  • Bad Battery Alert detects alerts and shuts off charging when a  non-NiMH or old NiMH battery is inserted
  • Large visual display can be viewed from across the room
  • Charges 2 or 4 AA or AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries
  • Charges batteries at a safe, steady rate which improves the long-term health of the NiMH battery
  • Energy Star® certified

I think this product is FABULOUS and will work wonderfully for me and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win this amazing contest. I am all about technology and am always telling friends what they should use, etc, so OMG I’m perfect for this ! PICK MEEEEEEE !!

And now, a few bullet points as to why I should be one of the chosen two….

  • This is my first BlogHer and the sheer excitement I will be feeling will make me hyper like the Energizer Bunny, thus making me an AMAZING representative for the product. I’ll be handing out info like mad.
  • Speaking of the Energizer Bunny, he inspires me ! Really ! The slogan “Keep Going” is what I have had to remember to do in the last 15 months, to just keep going and living life, energized.
  • This is actually my first major social outing since my husband and father died, and I can’t wait to meet all of the amazing bloggers who live inside my computer who have helped me through these tough times. If anyone is in need of a recharge, it’s me.
  • Honestly, I could really use the money for BlogHer. My late husband’s estate is still in probate, attorneys are sucking out money left and right and I’m still waiting to see even a penny. In the meantime I am working four jobs to keep up with bills, and every extra penny I have goes to my trip. I’ve sold everything I can sell for extra money except a kidney and I am getting dangerously close to that. So please Energizer, save me. Save my kidney.
  • Energizer is giving the winner’s T-Shirts to wear in NYC. T-SHIRTS!! My uniform of choice ! Nothing thrills me more than a free t-shirt or two and I will proudly sport them all over the Hilton and Manhattan proper.
  • I have total Computer Obsessive Disorder which means I am always online in one way or another, so I will be able to tweet like a maniac about Energizer, telling the world one follower at a time !
  • I’ve never been sponsored for anything and have never even been offered anything to review. I think this would be a great way to start and Energizer and I will be BFF’s forevah.
  • I will donate some of the money to these amazing causes, BHJ’s Run for TuTus for Tanner,  Friends of Maddie and The Liz Logelin Foundation. I’d like to spread the love and pay my good fortune forward. That’s my kind of recycling.

So please pick me to be an Energizer Smart ChargHER, I think I’d be a good representative and do yall proud !!!

Thank you!
