7 more hours left in the Central time zone for 2012.
While it hasn’t been a particularly bad year, it hasn’t been a great one either. I’m still in probate hell, still stuck in the armpit of Alabama, still missing my Gulf Coast home and the friends that I left behind, and still making these trips around the sun as a party of one.
But, (and you knew there was one!) it’s not been the worst year ever. Which I think that title still belongs to 2009 and hopefully will always stay there.
School is going well, I’m a better student at 43 than I was at 17-18-19-20-21-22 (Yes, I spent 6 years in college the first time). I have the love of many amazing family members and my friends here, and I keep close to my far away friends with the help of the evil Facebook and the Internet. I’m not entirely happy, but I’m not sad, and I realize that I must continue to plod towards my second future, one day at a time.
Thanks to all of you who have been here with me on yet another trip around the sun, sticking with me through our differences in politics, social issues, and life in general. My treasure trove of many different friends is the gumbo in my bowl of life, to invoke some Buffett speak.
Here’s hoping 2013 is a great year for all of us, and despite the heartaches and hardships that are part of life, that we each are here a year from now to be thankful for another trip around the sun.
Cheers y’all. Goodbye 2012, hello 2013.
Laissez le bon temps roulez.
