I have been looking for better ways to save money, utilize my space and reduce the amount of aluminum and plastic I accumulate. I have been making my own juices and lemonades, but still had to buy cans and bottles of soda. Until now. The amazing folks at Soda Stream were kind enough to send me one of their home soda makers to try out for myself.
I AM NOW OBSESSED WITH MAKING MY OWN SODA.
I’m making flavored waters, and every color and flavor of soda you can imagine, even a facsimile of C__e Zero that tastes just like the real thing. It works with tap water, uses it’s own carbonator and there are flavors to suit every taste. The carbonators are interchangeable and can be recycled easily at your local Soda Stream dealer. The Soda Stream flavors contain NO high fructose corn syrup or artificial ingredients and are lower in calories than name brands. The flavors taste great and I like the ability to lighten or add to their strength to my taste. One SodaStream carbonator makes 60 to 110 liters, equivalent to 170 or 310 aluminum cans. It all depends on how much carbonation you prefer. I find when I am making flavored waters I like more, and with sodas a bit less.
I take my lunch to work and school, and I was always going by the quick stop to get a can of this or a bottle of that, spending about fifteen dollars a week on drinks. Now, I simply make my soda at the beginning of the week, put it in the fridge and grab one and go every day. The bottles each hold a liter of whatever flavor you desire, and like I said, the level of carbonation is totally up to you. I’ve found that the bottles stay fizzy for several days with refrigeration. Another bonus is you are not lugging cases or those bulky two-liter bottles in and out of your house, up the stairs, or filling up your trash and recycling bins. It looks good, is compact, and needs no plugging in or wires. It’s perfect for those with limited space, or if you live in an apartment or are traveling. Mine will be going along in the motor home on our next trip, giving us valuable space where normally we would store drinks. It’s also perfect for camping, beach vacations and the like. And the money you save is nice too! I think they would make fabulous gifts for any occasion. There are several models and styles to suit every budget and decor.

My family drinks a lot of Sierra Mist. I know plain…but it goes with everything, ALL THE TIME. Plus, you wouldn’t like me on even more caffeine than my daily gallon of coffee, then it just starts to get ridiculous.

Yay! I think those soda machines are awesome. I love that they reduce the waste! My fave soda is good ol’ Coke. Gotta have it. Second would be cherry Pepsi. Don’t know why, but cherry Coke gives me heartburn so I can’t drink that one!!

Root Beer is my FAVORITE. My Dad has a Soda Stream and every time I visit him I call him to make sure he has Diet Root Beer made for me. LOVE that they have all the diet options in flavors.
