Wednesday Brain Nuggets

Helllooooo !!

OMG y’all have I been sick! How sick you ask?

So sick, that there are three bottles of wine I bought last Friday that are still untouched. I KNOW! Call Guinness, right?

So sick, I was feeling like I needed a licensed practical nurse!

So sick that I slept most of Saturday, Sunday and Monday and barely watched the SuperBowl, only caring enough to tweet #TouchDowny whenever someone scored and apparently I’ve won some fabulous prize. I’ll know in 4-6 weeks.

So sick that I didn’t shave my legs for THREE WHOLE DAYS. Ugh, TMI huh? Yes, I showered everyday, but only once, but at least I made the effort. I’m not some stinky hippie, you know.

So sick that I didn’t comment on any of the political caucuses or speeches or the Clint Eastwood commercial where he claims he isn’t on anyone’s side politically. Huh.

I barely made it to school and when I did, the board and instructor kept swimming around. Pretty sure I learned NOTHING yesterday except I’m a horrid driver when I’m in a hydrocodone cough syrup hangover and that my history teacher looks like the guy who played Freddie Kreuger except he’s much nicer and doesn’t swipe at me with his hands.

Speaking of, that cough syrup is fabulous. It knocked me out enough that I didn’t even cough, hell I’m pretty sure I was on the verge of a coma. I did learn it makes your skin crawl though thanks to my friend Bridgette who informed me that codeine is our itchy friend. The things you learn on Facebook.

And the dreams. Whoa. Ambien dreams aren’t shit compared to the wonders of codeine dreams. Now I know how Alice must have felt. If it wasn’t for the ragged out feeling, headache, sore throat, sneezing, Montezuma’s revenge and the chance of getting hooked on cough syrup, I’d get sick more often. After all, that’s what health insurance is for, isn’t it?

Right now I’m writing this while I watch some guys from my cousin’s work crew build a new patio onto my part of the house. Beaux is ensuring all is well by keeping an eye on them as they work. I need to be studying for my algebra test tomorrow and reading up on Am Lit and History but I figure I’ll wait until the coffee kicks in. Speaking of school, I found out that finals week for summer school starts the day I fly to NYC for BlogHer. Hmm. Must figure out something there because hey, the Yankees are in town those same days and uh, priorities. Speaking of the Yankees they will be coming to Atlanta in June for inter-league play so any of you ATL peeps, let’s go out to the ballgame. The Cubs will also be there the beginning of July so if you can’t make it in June, maybe then. Just watching me drink beer, rate the player’s derrieres and curse the umpires is almost more exciting than the ballgame itself.

Before I got sick I’d also been a wild woman with a paint can. A few weeks ago I painted the wall in the media room a lovely shade called “Hang Ten” and ever since then I’ve wanted to color the place up a bit. I don’t know if it’s because for so long I lived in an old house that had to be “classic southern” and then a new house that was “country club neighborhood chic” or what, but I feel the need to brighten things up around here. I can’t wait to see what I come up with next. I’m sure the neighbors are too.

BRIGHT HUH?

Well, that damn algebra study sheet isn’t going to do itself, and I need to catch up on my reader and my Pinterest and all of my other important internet stuff, so have a fabulous day and go out and do something amazing ! Or stay in like me and just be fabulous by yourself. Works either way really.

TTFN.

  • That is one bright green porch swing. Get better soon. Colds suck.

  • I’m glad you are back to the living! I’ve missed your witty banter. HAHA!

  • Sybil Law:

Love the colorful painting! I am the queen of color. It’s just happy stuff. And like you, my old houses were pretty traditional – green room, red room – this house is based on orange and blue, with shades of purple and green – and I love it. :)
Hope you’re better very soon, although it sounds like you’re on the mend.
    Go shave!

  • Those colors are GORGEOUS. Absolutely gorgeous! I am in a painting mood too- I need to find some fun colors though to change up some walls in my house. Hope you are feeling better!

  • Mel:

All the walls in our new house are light beige… I did not chose the color. I told Todd this morning that I wanted to paint an accent wall of color in the bathroom. He said “Hell no”. Apparently he enjoys beige. I’m thinking that when he comes home from work on Saturday, there will be an accent wall in the bathroom. When he gets mad, I’ll just get that glazed over look and say, “Huh?”
